More often than not, kids want to be like their favorite Hip hop artist, they would like to sing and dance just like their favorite hip hop artist. The style of hip hop dance taught will largely depend on the teacher, but most dance school hip hop classes focus on “new style hip hop,” which is a combination of dance styles such as jazz-funk or lyrical hip hop. Most dance class teachers are also trained in other styles of dance like ballet, jazz and even ballroom.
There are a lot of dance camps available in the United States such as George University, Ohio State University, Pearl Studios in New York City, UC Berkeley, UCLA, University of Massachusetts and Webster University. Dance camps teach various forms and styles of dance including jazz, ballet and hip hop. Dance camps in cater to different age groups and expertise levels. While many offer classes all year long, some are only offered during the summer months. Many dance camps offer hip hop as part of their curriculum for kids ranging in age from 12 to 19.
If you do not possess the time or resources to enroll your child to a dance school, you can buy DVDs or video of their favorite hip hop artist. You can also decide if you will buy a thirty minutes or one hour of dancing videos by your fave rap artist. Several DVDs and videos are available that were developed to teach hip hop dance techniques to kids. You can go to your local department store or use the Internet to look for sites that offer hip hop dance lessons.
